How to Remove the Long, Weird Affiliate Link

OK, you're like me.  You'd rather not promote an OBVIOUS affiliate link.  Anyone who sees http://hop.clickbank.net/hop.cgi?YOUR NICKNAME/thevault knows you are promoting an affiliate program that you are going to make a commission from.  And, some search engines won't allow anything with the ? in it to be included in their database.  If the reader of the ad is a Clickbank member themselves, then some will REMOVE your nickname and insert their own - thereby stealing your commission!  And, of course, the "hoplink" is an eye sore.

Let me share with you a simple way of changing all of this if you own your own domain.
From now on, instead of http://hop.clickbank.net/hop.cgi?YOUR NICKNAME/thevault , you will be able to promote http://www.yourdomain.com/thevault

Here's how to do it...

1. Open up Notepad or your  favorite html editor.

2. Cut and paste the following code EXACTLY into Notepad or your html editor.  Do not change anything or it will not work.  You CAN replace the Clickbank nickname to your own nickname.  In fact, you MUST or it won't credit you. NOTE:  If you use an HTML EDITOR, then remove all html tags before pasting the code below - it is the ONLY information you need on the page.  If you use NOTEPAD, then simply paste the following code.

<html>
<head>
<title>Have You Opened The Profits Vault Yet?</title>

<meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="0;
URL=http://hop.clickbank.net/hop.cgi?YOUR NICKNAME/thevault">

</head>
</html>

3. Save the file as thevault.html .  Once you have pasted the above code, you will need to pull down the "File" tab from your menu bar.  If you are using NOTEPAD, then save the file as thevault.html .  This will save what was once a text file (.txt) into an HTML (web) page titled thevault.html.  If you are using an HTML EDITOR, then save the file as thevault - it will automatically add the .html extension.

4. Upload thevault.html to your website.  Once you have built the simple page, open up your FTP program and upload the file to your main site.  Once you have thevault.html uploaded to your website, you will simply promote your NEW URL...
http://www.yourdomain.com/thevault.html instead of the old hoplink.  The result will be the same.

5. Test the link to ensure that it is working properly.
